Does Colonic Irrigation Work?

01 colonic irrigation Does Colonic Irrigation Work?

Colonic Irrigation

The topic of detoxification and nutritional cleansing are common to the CleanseBenefits Blog.  Depending on their circumstances many people are willing to try anything to lose weight and/or improve their appearance…even procedures and systems that may create health concerns that negate or overtake any presumed benefits.  Some people may conduct a cost/benefit analysis of a potential cure for their problems and decide that the associated warnings or concerns are acceptable to them if it results in a thinner waistline

It seems silly, however, to utilize such a procedure or systems when it is proven to have no benefit, or if the benefit does not produce the desired effect.  U.S. scientists have determined that a longstanding “treatment” with a large number of supporters does not achieve the ends previously assumed.  Colonic Irrigation has long been touted as a means for detoxification and weight loss, but it turns out these claims are unfounded.  As a matter of fact, Colonic Irrigation is now believed to potentially cause serious health problems with little or no associated benefits.

Georgetown University

The procedure which involves flushing out the colon through a tube inserted into the rectum may lead to nausea, cramping, bloating, and in some cases renal failure and even death as determined by a study conducted by Georgetown University scientists.  The study went on to explain that colon cleansing products such as laxatives, teas, powders and capsules purport benefits that actually don’t exist.

Of similar concern is that these procedures are quite often performed by non-medical personnel in spas and clinics.  The practitioners in these spas and clinics have been found to have limited, if any, training in the administration of these unnecessary and potentially dangerous procedures.

Nutritional or full-body cellular cleansing is a safe alternative that has a medical study to back up its efficacy.  It is non-invasive and allows for a person with no medical background to use safely.

Everyone has a choice to make here if weight loss and cleansing is the desired result.  It seems to be common sense to choose the alternative that has been proven to work safely.

To Monster or Not Monster…That is the Question!

Wednesday, February 16th, 2011

In 1965 Dr. J. Robert Cade was a researcher at the University of Florida.  Dr. Cade noted that the football team was being deprived of water during practices and decided he was going to do something about it.  Dr. Cade

developed a drink that would keep the players hydrated and replenish their electrolytes.  The drink was a hit with the Gator’s and Gatorade was invented.

Dr. Cade, in my opinion had noble intentions when he developed his drink.  I cannot say the same for the new breed of “energy” drinks such as Monster, and the most notorious in recent history ‘Four Loko’.  This alcohol infused “energy” drink contained 12% alcohol and extremely high levels of cafeine.  It was not until complaints of mass illness and potential deaths were reported that ‘Four Loko’ was removed from the shelves.

In a recent Associated Press article titled ‘Pediatrics Report Details from Energy Drinks’, the issue of dangerous energy drinks was tied to injury and illness in children.  One example cited involved an 18 year old child who had

a seizure and required hospitalization after consuming two large energy drinks

My greatest concern with the drinks is their very reference.  The term ‘energy’ drink bears a similar conotation as was offered by Dr. Cade and his Gatorade in the 1960′s.  Calling them ‘energy drinks leads one to believe that there is some sensory or physical benefit to drinking them.  You may feel  more alert, but at what cost.  Furthermore, what chemicals are providing you with that stimulation?  Would a cost benefit analysis of what you are receiving and what is being taken away eliminate your desire  to take another sip (chug)?

We have made the decision to  not  offer these drinks to our kids, nor do we drink them ourselves.  When we began our new lives  into our Nutritional Cleansing and Replenishing program we made a concerted effort to eliminate food and drink that would be contradictory to our effort to cleanse our bodies.  I would never claim to be perfect and we are most certainly human.  We do cheat on occasion, but we have also made some common sense

To Monster or Not Monster...That is the Question!

Want More Energy

decisions that have had significantly positive effects on our health and fitness.  We do not consume energy drinks unless you are talking about Isagenix’s® Want More Energy?® Natural Electrolyte Mix!  I would be happy to compare the natural ingredients in this drink to any other electrolyte replacement drink on the market today.  Otherwise,  when you open our refrigerator you will find purified water and milk as our typical dinner fare.  We are actually going through several cases of water every week.

I am not telling you  to change who you  are or completely alter your diet.  My diet has changed very little.  My wife is a fantastic cook and continues to make her family the same delicious foods she always has.  Instead I am suggesting you consider one onf the primary tenets of Nutritional CleansingPurity.  Pay attention to the chemicals, additives, preservatives and impurities you are introducing to your body.  What you eat and drink is important to your health and every positive decision can have a major impact on the quality and length of your life.

Don’t be Afraid of that 4th of July Barbecue

Saturday, July 3rd, 2010

American Flag Wall Art Dont be Afraid of that 4th of July BarbecueHow do I stick with my nutritional cleansing program over 4th of July weekend?  This is easier than you think. There is no reason you have to live in a bubble while using Isagenix. Enjoy the foods in moderation you would normally eat.

Here are some helpful eating tips:

  • Use lean protein on the grill and put your meat on a multi-grain bun or skip the bun altogether.  If you must sample the barbecue ribs limit them to 1 or 2.
  • Avoid mayonnaise based salads.  Instead eat a tossed salad with low calorie dressing.  If you can’t resist the pasta salad use whole grain pasta with an olive oil and vinegar dressing.tossed salad2 Dont be Afraid of that 4th of July Barbecue
  • Try filling up on raw vegetables & fruit.  Watermelon is a good choice this time of year.  It is low in calories and contains 90% water.
  • Baked beans are high in fiber but they are also contain a lot of sugar.  Limit your serving to 1 – 2 tbsp.
  • Eat baked chips instead of regular.
  • Drink plenty of water.
  • If you can’t live without your alcoholic beverage, choose low-calorie varieties and drink in moderation.
  • Exercise the mourning before to help speed up your metabolism.

Most of all enjoy!  One off day is not going to limit your success.  Besides, on Cleanse for Life 1024x814 Dont be Afraid of that 4th of July BarbecueMonday you can get back on track by doing a cleanse day. I like to think of my cleanse as my magic eraser.

Have a safe and healthy holiday weekend!
